Be Yourself. This is definitely the most important as it is a time to meet new people. Don't put on a false front. A firm handshake, a ready smile, and a natural conversation are your most important assets.

Don't Permit Any Chapter To Monopolize Your Time. Be wary of any chapter that tries to pressure you into a decision. You are not obligated to any chapter because they have shown interest in you. Keep in mind that you are making a decision that will remain with you for the rest of your life, and a good decision can only be made by looking at all your options.

Don't Hesitate To Ask Questions. It's only right that you should want to know as much about a chapter as they want to know about you. You will find that chapter members and Recruitment Chairs will be very willing to answer all of your questions. It is important for you to be informed before you make a decision.

Get To Know The Members. Acquaint yourself with the chapter you are visiting and ask yourself, "Are these the type of women with whom I wish to become life-long friends?" Sisterhood is a very important quality in a chapter, and you can only assess how you will fit into a chapter's sisterhood by getting to know as many members as possible.

Decide For Yourself There is at least one sorority for every woman. Greek life is all about finding a chapter where you feel most at home. Don't allow your friends, boyfriend, or family to influence your decision. College is a time to make important decisions, such as selecting a chapter that you feel most comfortable in, on your own.

What To Wear. at the U, the Greeks want you to feel as relaxed as possible during Recruitment, so wear what you feel is most comfortable. Many potential members opt to wear sundresses, skirts, jeans or khakis and a T-shirt, depending on what best suits them. We cannot stress enough the importance of wearing sensible shoes, as you will be on your feet for several hours at a time. Also, the combination of Utah in August and lots of bodies in confined spaces means that sorority houses can get a little hot, so make sure you don't wear any heavy clothing.

Preference Night is the exception to our "no frills" clothing rule. You will be attending a formal presentation and should dress nicely. This night is very important to sorority members and potential members alike, and you should dress accordingly. While dresses are recommended, you definitely don't need to buy a new formal dress for the occasion. If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask the Recruitment Chair or your Recruitment Counselor.
